The Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) prepares students to help children and adults cope with difficult life events such as physical illness, the death of a loved one, and relationship problems or divorce. It also shows students how to diagnose and manage serious mental illnesses and obtain resources and support.
The program satisfies academic requirements for licensure as a professional counselor and clinical professional counselor in the State of Illinois. It also meets the academic requirements for national certification in mental health counseling (CCMHC) and national counselor certification (NCC).
This full-time, 3-year program consists of in-person classes on the Chicago campus. Part-time options are available. Admissions are open for fall start dates only.
The program boasts a job placement rate and licensure/certification examination pass rate both over 90%.
Counseling students complete intensive internships at local counseling and community agencies during the final year of study and apply their knowledge gained in class to the real world.
The Roosevelt Counseling Association — a highly active student organization — fosters strong connections with classmates and future colleagues.
