About Me
Dr. Daniel Healy is the Visiting Assistant Professor of Music Education and Head of Music Education at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Indiana University, a master of music degree in jazz performance from William Paterson University, and completed his Ph.D in music education at Northwestern University. Dr. Healy has presented his research at the Suncoast Music Education Research Symposium, the Society for Music Teacher Education Symposium, the New Directions in Music Education Conference, the International Society for Improvised Music Conference, as well as the Critical Perspectives on Music, Education, and Religion conference in Helsinki, Finland. He has published with the Music Educators Journal, has contributed to a volume for the Society for Music Teacher Education entitled Envisioning Music Teacher Education, and is the co-author of the upcoming Oxford University Press book, Music Discovery: Improvisation for the Large Ensemble and Music Classroom. He is also a contributing author to the educational supplement for the documentary film, Keep on Keepin' On, which was supported by a grant from the Quincy Jones Foundation and the Thelonious Monk Jazz Institute. Daniel is also a teacher with the Knowledge Training Institute in the United Arab Emirates and has conducted workshops with ensembles in Abu Dhabi.
